What happens during my initial consultation?
Your visit begins with a personalized facial assessment by one of our experienced providers. We’ll review your medical history, current medications, and aesthetic goals to ensure neurotoxin treatment is safe and tailored for you. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss expected results before we proceed.
How long does the treatment take?
Most appointments last 15–30 minutes from start to finish. The injections themselves take only a few minutes, but we take time to carefully map facial muscles and plan precise placement for natural, balanced results.
What can I expect right after treatment?
You can return to most normal activities immediately after your appointment. Mild redness or pinpoint swelling may occur but usually fades within a few hours.
After your injections, our primary care physician stops by to check in and see how you’re doing. At Geneva, it’s just as important to us that you feel great on the inside as you look beautiful on the outside. We’ll make sure you leave with the right guidance and support for your overall wellness.
What's the difference between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin?
All three—Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin—are FDA-approved neuromodulators that soften fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles. While they work similarly, there are a few key differences:
- Botox is the most well-known and widely used. It has a slightly heavier molecular structure, which can result in more precise placement for smaller treatment areas.
- Dysport spreads more easily, making it ideal for larger areas like the forehead. It may also kick in a bit faster—typically 2–3 days versus 3–5 for Botox.
- Xeomin is often called the “naked” neurotoxin because it doesn’t contain added proteins. This may reduce the risk of resistance over time and can be a great option for patients who’ve developed a tolerance to other products.
Your provider can help you choose the best option based on your goals, treatment area, and past experience.
How many units will I need?
The number of units you’ll need really depends on the area being treated. Common ranges include: forehead (10-30 units), crow’s feet (15-20 units per side), and frown lines (20-25 units). We will assess your facial anatomy to determine the optimal dosing.
Will Botox, Dysport or Xeomin make me look frozen or artificial?
Not when performed correctly. Results typically last 3-4 months, though some patients may see effects lasting up to 6 months with regular treatment. Consistent treatments can help train muscles to relax, potentially extending duration over time.
When will I see results?
Initial effects begin within 3-5 days, with full results visible at 10-14 days post-treatment. We recommend scheduling follow-up appointments after this timeframe to assess results.
