What laser resurfacing actually does

A laser makes thousands of tiny treatment points in the skin, each one smaller than a pinhead. The skin around each point is left untouched, which helps you heal faster.

As your skin heals, it sheds the damaged surface and makes new collagen underneath. The result is smoother, more even-looking skin that keeps improving for months.

At GENEVA we use , an FDA-cleared laser made in Italy by DEKA and used by leading aesthetic and medical practices across North America and Europe.

From a quick, glowing refresh to deep resurfacing for scars and lines, your provider tailors every treatment to your skin and how much time off you can take.

Your treatment day, step by step

  1. 1

    Before: get your skin ready

Your provider gives you a simple plan. You may start a skin product about 4 weeks before, and stop retinol and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before. Avoid tanning.

  2. 2

    Numbing, about 30 minutes

A numbing cream goes on first, and we give it time to work before we start.

  3. 3

The laser, 20 to 30 minutes

Our medical cooling system blows chilled air over your skin the whole time to keep you comfortable. Your provider checks on you throughout.

  4. 4

    Home the same day

You leave with written aftercare and a number to call or text with any questions while you heal.

What recovery looks like

This is typical for a deeper, full-face CO2 treatment. Lighter treatments heal even faster, and we plan your treatment around your calendar.

Days 1 to 3
Your skin is pink and warm, like after a day in the sun, as it starts to renew. A few quiet days at home with your aftercare.
Days 3 to 6
The old surface flakes away on its own and fresh, new skin shows through.
Around day 7
Most people are ready to go out with makeup and sunscreen.
The next few months
Pinkness fades over a few weeks, and your skin keeps improving as new collagen forms.

Is it right for me?

Laser resurfacing is a popular choice for people who want smoother texture, softer lines, fewer sun spots and brighter, more even-looking skin.

At your complimentary skin analysis, your provider looks at your skin, your health and the medicines you take, and builds the plan that fits you, including the protocol and settings for your skin type and tone, and skin prep when it helps.

We time your treatment for when your skin is ready: after a tan or breakout has settled, after pregnancy, or a while after Accutane. Tell us about cold sores and we’ll plan for those too.

With a complimentary, comprehensive skin analysis. A provider looks at your skin one-on-one, and you leave with a customized treatment plan and roadmap, with no obligation to book.

We make comfort a priority. A numbing cream goes on first, and during treatment our medical cooling system blows chilled air over your skin to keep you comfortable. You may feel some warmth and prickling.

It depends on how deep the treatment is. Sultra and CoolPeel usually mean little to a few days of redness. A deeper CO2 treatment typically means several days of redness, swelling and peeling, and most people plan about a week before they feel ready to be seen.

There’s no single right age. Laser resurfacing is a popular choice for people who want smoother texture, softer lines, fewer sun spots and brighter skin. Your provider looks at your skin, your health and your medicines and builds the plan that fits you.

Some concerns improve after one deeper treatment. Lighter treatments and older acne scars often need a series. Your provider tells you the number at your skin analysis. Results vary from person to person.

Many patients notice smoother, fresher skin as it heals in the first few weeks. Deeper changes keep developing over the following months as new collagen forms.

Schedule a consultation to find out which resurfacing protocol suits your skin, your concern and your calendar.
