Lip Flip in Alpharetta
A lip flip is a cosmetic treatment that uses a small amount of botulinum toxin above the upper lip to relax targeted muscles, allowing more of the upper lip to show when you smile. Unlike lip filler, a lip flip does not add volume—it creates a subtle change in lip shape and visibility.

What a Lip Flip Is and How It Works

A LIP FLIP USES A SMALL AMOUNT OF BOTULINUM TOXIN AROUND THE UPPER LIP TO CREATE MORE LIP SHOW WITHOUT ADDING FILLER VOLUME.A lip flip works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles around the upper lip. This allows the lip to roll slightly outward, or evert, so more of your existing upper lip becomes visible when you smile. No filler is injected into the lip, so the treatment does not add true volume.
At GENEVA Med, your provider evaluates your lip movement, smile, facial anatomy, and goals before deciding where and how much product to use. A lip flip is best suited to subtle changes in lip show or shape; patients who want noticeable added volume are generally better candidates for lip filler.
Results develop gradually after treatment and are temporary. Lip flip duration varies by patient, but the effect typically lasts a few months rather than the six to twelve months associated with many lip fillers.

Is a lip flip right for you?
A lip flip is a small treatment with a narrow set of ideal candidates. Here is what we look for, and what we would tell you honestly before booking one.
Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler
A lip flip and lip filler can both enhance the appearance of the lips, but they work in different ways. A lip flip uses a small amount of botulinum toxin to relax targeted muscles around the upper lip, allowing more of the existing lip to show. Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid gel to add true volume, shape, or definition. Some patients may benefit from one treatment, while others may combine both depending on their goals.
Lip flip pricing is based on the neurotoxin product and number of units recommended for your treatment. Lip filler is typically priced by syringe or treatment amount.

What to Expect
A lip flip is a quick injectable treatment with minimal downtime. Here’s what to expect from consultation and lip mapping through treatment, results, and follow-up.
- 1
Preparation (before your visit)
Tell your provider about medications, supplements, previous neurotoxin treatments, and relevant health conditions before your appointment. Follow any specific preparation instructions provided by GENEVA and arrive with clean skin when possible.
- 2
Consultation and lip mapping
Your provider evaluates your smile, upper-lip movement, facial anatomy, and treatment goals to determine whether a lip flip is appropriate and where the injections should be placed.
- 3
Numbing (about 20 minutes)
Strong topical numbing is applied and left to work. Our fillers also contain lidocaine. Lips are the most sensitive area we treat, so we do not rush this.
- 4
The treatment (15 to 20 minutes)
A small amount of botulinum toxin is injected into targeted muscles around the upper lip using a fine needle. The exact number of injection points and units depends on your anatomy, smile, and treatment plan.
- 5
Immediately after
Most patients have little to no downtime after a lip flip and can return to normal daily activities. Mild redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising can occur around the injection sites. Follow your GENEVA provider’s specific aftercare instructions.
- 6
Your two week follow up
Swelling resolves over the first week and the true shape appears by about day fourteen. We book this review for every patient and refine then if anything needs balancing.

Treatment Frequency
Finding Your Rhythm
1×
Start conservatively
A half or full syringe placed well tells us how your lips hold product and how much change you actually want. Adding at a second visit is easy. Removing is a separate procedure.
6 to 12 mo
Ongoing maintenance
Lips metabolise filler faster than most areas because they move constantly and have a rich blood supply. Topping up before the shape fully disappears keeps the result consistent.
Long term
Less over time
Many long term patients find they need less product per visit once the shape is established, because each treatment builds on a base that has not fully resolved.
Combine Treatments
Your Journey, Continued
A lip flip changes how much of your upper lip shows. It does not change lip volume, texture or the skin around the mouth, which is why it is often planned alongside something that does.
