Before & After

Skin texture and tone improved across a 3 session PRP series. Collagen builds over weeks 8 to 12.

What Under Eye PRP Is and How It Works

Platelet rich plasma is made from a small sample of your own blood.Spinning it in a centrifuge separates a concentrated layer of platelets, which carry the growth factors your body uses to repair tissue and build collagen. Injected into the thin skin beneath the eyes, those growth factors prompt gradual thickening and better skin quality.

The reason this matters under the eyes is anatomical. The skin there is the thinnest on the body, and much of what people call dark circles is simply the blue of underlying vessels showing through skin that has become too thin to hide them. Thickening that skin genuinely reduces the shadow. No amount of concealer or eye cream reaches that layer.

What it will not do is fill a hollow. If your under eye darkness comes from volume loss creating a shadow, or from pigment sitting in the skin, PRP is the wrong treatment and we will tell you at consultation. Identifying which of the three causes you actually have is the entire value of the appointment, because they are treated completely differently.

Numbing goes on under the eyes first, and we let it work.

Is Under Eye PRP right for you?

Most healthy adults are good candidates. Here is what we typically look for, and what we would discuss with you before recommending treatment.

The clearest indication. If your circles look blue or purple and lighten when you stretch the skin, thickening it helps.
Many people have skin too thin or eyes too prone to puffiness for tear trough filler. PRP is the sensible alternative.
If the darkness is a shadow cast by genuine volume loss, filler addresses it and PRP will not. We will say so.
PRP is a sensible next step once tear trough filler has been removed and the area has settled.
Fine crinkling beneath the eyes improves as collagen builds and the skin regains some substance.
Everything used comes from your own blood, with nothing foreign left behind.
Brown rather than blue discoloration is pigment, which responds to topical treatment and peels instead.
Results build across a series rather than appearing at once. If you need to look different next week, this is not the treatment.

Under Eye PRP vs. Tear Trough Filler

These treat different causes of the same complaint. Filler replaces lost volume and fills a hollow immediately. PRP improves the quality and thickness of the skin gradually and adds nothing. Which one you need depends entirely on why your under eyes look dark.

Some patients need both, sequenced rather than combined. Filler restores the structure and PRP improves the skin sitting over it. Your provider will tell you which one your under eyes actually call for, and will say plainly if the answer is neither.

What to Expect: Before, During and After

An under eye PRP appointment at GENEVA takes 45 to 60 minutes including the draw and numbing. Here is the process from preparation through to results.

  1. 1

    Preparation (before your visit)

Hydrate well the day before and the morning of, since it makes the draw easier and improves the yield. Eat a full meal beforehand. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen for several days, since they blunt the platelet response.

  2. 2

    Consultation and assessment

Your provider determines why your under eyes look dark. Thin skin, hollowing and pigment look similar and are treated completely differently, so this step decides whether PRP is even the right treatment.

  3. 3

    The blood draw (5 minutes)

A small draw comparable to a routine blood test. It goes straight into the centrifuge, which separates the platelet rich layer while your skin is being numbed.

  1. 4

    Numbing (about 20 minutes)

Topical numbing is applied under the eyes and left to take full effect. This area is sensitive and we do not rush it.

  2. 5

The injections (10 to 15 minutes)

PRP is placed in small deposits beneath the eyes using a fine needle or a blunt cannula. Most patients describe brief stinging. Bruising here is common and we will tell you that before, not after. Before you leave, our physician checks in on you and reviews the result.

  3. 6

    Your two week follow up

We book a two week review for every patient to check healing and confirm the plan for your series. Visible change comes later, which is the honest trade. Collagen builds over eight to twelve weeks and keeps improving across the series, and most patients need three sessions before judging the result.

Under Eye PRP Cost in Alpharetta

PRP is priced per session and planned as a series, because collagen building is cumulative and a single treatment rarely produces the full result.

Under Eye PRP

From $700

Indicative pricing. Members save 10% to 15% depending on tier on every visit. Most patients do a series of three spaced four to six weeks apart, priced below three single sessions.

Each session includes the blood draw and processing. We plan and price this as a series from the outset rather than selling single sessions, because one treatment on its own usually disappoints.

Treatment Frequency

How Often and Why

Start the response

One session begins collagen building but produces little visible change on its own. We are upfront that this treatment works through accumulation.

4 to 6 wk

Build the series

Three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Each adds to the collagen laid down by the last, which is where the visible improvement comes from.

1 / yr

Ongoing maintenance

After the series, an annual session maintains the result. Under eye improvement tends to hold well once the skin has genuinely thickened.

Skin Rejuvenation & Anti-Aging at Geneva Exosome Therapy in Alpharetta

Platelet rich plasma made from a small sample of your own blood, injected into the thin skin beneath the eyes. The platelets carry growth factors that prompt collagen production, gradually thickening the skin and improving its quality.

It depends entirely on the cause. Circles caused by thin skin letting underlying vessels show through respond well, because thickening the skin reduces what shows. Circles caused by hollowing need filler. Circles caused by pigment need topical treatment or peels. Your consultation identifies which you have.

A rough test is to stretch the skin gently. If the darkness lightens, it is likely vascular and thin skin. If a shadow persists with a defined edge, it is likely hollowing. If the colour is brown rather than blue, it is likely pigment. We confirm at your consultation.

PRF is spun more slowly and without anticoagulant, which preserves a fibrin scaffold that releases growth factors over several days rather than immediately. Both work. Your provider selects based on the area and the protocol, and will explain which they are using and why.

The draw is a brief pinch. The injections are done under topical numbing and most patients describe brief stinging. The under eye area is sensitive and we take our time with numbing.

Quite possibly, and we would rather tell you now than afterwards. The under eye area bruises easily. Bruising typically lasts three to seven days and is concealable with makeup after the first day. Do not book this immediately before an important event.

Three spaced four to six weeks apart for most patients, then an annual maintenance session. A single treatment rarely produces the full result, which is why we plan it as a series from the start.

Gradually over eight to twelve weeks as collagen forms, continuing to improve across the series. Nothing changes in the first fortnight, which is the honest trade for a treatment that adds nothing synthetic.

It carries no risk of puffiness, migration or the blue tinge that misplaced filler can cause under thin skin, and no allergic risk since it comes from you. It is not risk free, but the risk profile is favourable in this particular area.

Bruising and swelling at the injection sites are the usual effects. Serious complications are rare because nothing foreign is introduced. PRP is not suitable with certain clotting or blood disorders, and we screen for those beforehand.

Alcohol for 24 hours and anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen, aspirin and fish oil for several days, since they blunt the platelet response and increase bruising. Hydrate well and eat before your appointment.

GENEVA offers physician directed under eye PRP in Alpharetta, one mile from Avalon, serving Johns Creek, Roswell, Milton and the surrounding areas.
