What a SKNLAB Facial Is and How It Works

A SKNLAB MEDICAL FACIAL COMBINES AQUA DELIVERY WITH MULTIPLE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES IN ONE CUSTOMIZABLE PLATFORM. SKNLAB by Cartessa combines aqua delivery with six specialized handpieces that can be used together in a personalized medical facial. Depending on your skin and goals, your treatment may incorporate electroporation, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), lymphatic massage, ultrasound, LED light therapy, and cold or heat therapy.
Each technology plays a different role within the treatment. Aqua delivery supports cleansing and hydration, while the additional handpieces allow your aesthetician to personalize the facial around concerns such as congestion, dullness, dehydration, sensitivity, or early signs of aging. SKNLAB also allows providers to incorporate topical solutions and build treatment protocols around oily, dry, or combination skin.
Because the treatment sequence can be adjusted from visit to visit, your facial does not have to follow the same fixed protocol every time. Your aesthetician can tailor the program to what your skin needs that day and how your goals change over time.

Is a Medical Facial right for you?
Medical facials can be a good option for adults looking to improve hydration, brightness, congestion, or overall skin quality with minimal downtime. Here’s how a personalized facial may help with common skin concerns.
Medical Facial vs. Traditional Facial
Both medical facials and traditional facials can cleanse, hydrate, and refresh the skin. The difference at GENEVA is that our SKNLAB medical facial combines aqua delivery with multiple device-based technologies that can be personalized around your skin type and concerns. A traditional facial generally relies more heavily on topical skincare, cleansing, massage, and manual techniques.
A medical facial is designed to support skin quality and maintenance, not replace every aesthetic treatment. If your primary concern is deeper acne scarring, established wrinkles, or significant skin laxity, your provider may recommend microneedling, laser resurfacing, or another treatment that better matches your goals.

What to Expect: Before, During and After
A medical facial at GENEVA typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. Your treatment is personalized based on your skin type, concerns, and goals, so the exact SKNLAB sequence may vary from one visit to the next.
- 1
Preparation (before your visit)
Most medical facials require little special preparation. Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 3 to 7 days before your appointment. Arrive with clean skin when possible, and let your aesthetician know about any active irritation, open areas, recent procedures, or changes in your skincare routine so your treatment can be adjusted appropriately.
- 2
Skin analysis
Your aesthetician evaluates your skin type, current concerns, and treatment goals before selecting your SKNLAB facial program. The protocol can be personalized for oily, dry, or combination skin and concerns such as congestion, dullness, dehydration, sensitivity, or early signs of aging.
- 3
Cleansing and aqua delivery
Treatment begins with cleansing and aqua delivery to help exfoliate, refresh, and hydrate the skin. The solutions and treatment settings are selected based on your skin type and what your aesthetician wants to address during that visit.
- 4
Targeted Treatment Technologies
Depending on your skin and goals, your aesthetician may incorporate electroporation, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), lymphatic massage, ultrasound, LED light therapy, or other SKNLAB modalities. The technologies used—and the order in which they are used—are personalized to your treatment plan.
- 5
Calming and finish
Your facial finishes with calming steps selected for your skin, which may include cold therapy and appropriate topical skincare. Your aesthetician will also review what to use at home to support your skin after treatment.
- 6
Results and rhythm
Many patients notice refreshed, more hydrated-looking skin after their medical facial, with little interruption to their normal routine. For ongoing skin maintenance, your aesthetician may recommend regular treatments based on your skin, goals, and any other aesthetic treatments in your plan.
